Introducing Visualize Policy

Starting this fall, I will be working with William Dickens, Northeastern Professor Emeritus of Economics and Public Policy and Raymond Yee, Ph.D., as well as a great team of students and industry professionals to build Visualize Policy - a small non-profit organization that builds websites that inform the public about important issues.

We turn complicated public policy into something you can explore. Our interactive sites show how laws and proposals actually work, from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to our new project on US health insurance, so you can click through the maps and charts and see what a policy means for your state or county. We’re a volunteer group of economists, technologists and students with no ads and no agenda. Our goal is to give you the facts plainly and leave the conclusions to you.

Today we’re working on our largest project yet: a site about how US health insurance works, how it got this way, and what the alternatives look like, including a simulation that lets you try out your own policy ideas. A growing group of volunteer economists, engineers and students builds all of it.

Currently, my focus has been on developing a new landing page for Visualize Policy using Svelte. Along with that, I’ve been updating our branding scheme, developing a new logo, and a shared CSS design system for our projects.

Visualize Policy is always looking for more volunteers. If you’re interested, please reach out to [email protected]
